Tools of Paganism: Palmistry (or Chiromancy) for Beginners

PalmistryPalmistry (also known as chiromancy) is a fortune-telling method. It has been in practice for at least 5,000 years and is present in most cultures. A palm reader can supposedly determine a bit about a person’s life or future life by analyzing the lines and bumps on that person’s palms. Various elements are represented in different parts of the hand.

For those wishing to learn about palmistry, there are resources available online. Note: If you are looking for a general overview, or to dabble in chironmancy, you should not pay for lessons, especially not online. Those studying seriously may consider formal lessons in the future.

  • MorningStarPortal offers a general overview of palmistry, touching on the history of the art and where one should begin.
  • For those who learn by doing, FindYourFate offers a guided reading online.

I took FindYourFate’s test and here were my selected results. Italicized font indicates predicted results (via web site) and bold represents actual (so far). I am 28 years old, and therefore have not lived out my full life, of course.

Your strong, deeply etched lifeline reveals a strong nervous system. In addition to that it reveals an equally strong physical constitution. The stronger the life line, the stronger the overall constitution, ensuring that there is stamina, vitality and good health.

So far, so good. I do not have any major problems; most health problems that I have encountered are do to outside forces (injuries).

A close relationship may break up.

I have been divorced. However, who has not had a close relationship end?

You are likely to contribute to the society and be remembered for it even after your lifetime.

That is a nice thought. At least Google seems to like me.

My conclusion? This sounds at least as vague as a newspaper horoscope. I should probably talk to a professional if I’m serious about palmistry as an art. I don’t think I’d get as much from a person by reading their palm as I would by having permissable physical contact when touching their hand. The way the other person reacts, the temperature of their body, and their general energy would probably be more telling than the lines on their hand, but I read people differently than others might. Your thoughts?

I honestly think that anything found on the internet is just computer generated. That’s unless you order it from someones personal website and they ask you for a scan of your palm.

One thing I would suggest when studying or getting a reading is to not have anyone around you. I had one a long time ago and the man ended up reading my mothers life instead of mine..

etc suicide attempt, two daughters but one lost…etc.
